Fall Color Trends

You probably have a favorite color family for your hair (eg blonde, brunette, black, red) but when’s the last time you changed it up within that family? Fresh from New York Fashion Week and London Fashion Week, Spoke SLO co-owner and celebrity color expert Christine Thompson shares a dispatch of trending shades that her clients in NYC, LA and SF are requesting this fall.

“One trend I see is a really dark, rich black-brown that I’m calling “Raven.” This would be a good move for those with dark hair looking for more depth and drama. Great shades include those worn by Kendall Jenner and model Bella Hadid.

Another trend is a copper hue a la Sophie Turner on Game of Thrones. (That won’t be the last time Game of Thrones comes up in this post – the HBO miniseries is informing some of the hottest hair color this season.) I get a lot of requests for this color!

For blondes, I see two trends. One is something I call a progressive blonde, which shows a shadowy root. Examples of this color are actress Lucy Hale, blogger Michelle Madsen, and Sarah Jessica Parker.

The other blonde option is at the other end of the spectrum, almost like a platinum. Jennifer Lawrence is a great example of this color, as is that of Game of Thrones’ Dragon Queen, Emilia Clarke.”
